Welcome to The Bull and Castle
Both poets and priests have resided at the Castle Inn
over the centuries. In the 1600s it was home to the Usher
family, one of whom became the Archbishop of Armagh and in
1750 the grandfather of the Irish poet James Mangan ran a
porter house here becoming probably ''one of the first Dublin
pubs to serve Guinness''.
In more recent times,The Castle Inn continued this poetic
tradition. Renowned as a ballad venue in the 1960s it had
such great Irish folk legends as Paddy Reilly, The Emmet Spiceland,
The Young Folk as well as The Dubliner's play within its four
walls.
With a heritage that is unique and a history that's long
it is perhaps only fitting that The Castle Inn is now part
of another great tradition - FXB's Seafood and Steakhouse
Restaurants. Bringing a reputation for quality and food and
service of an exceptionally high standard the FXB food experience
can now be enjoyed in this medieval style heritage pub.
Enjoy the friendly atmosphere, live ballad sessions and award
winning steak and seafood while sampling a pint of the black
stuff all in the heart of the Old City of Dublin
